After a year, northern Brazil again, and after a year, records are being broken again!
Hugo Hadaš, now of legal age, delivered a spectacular performance this year!
On October 13, Hugo took off from Caraúbas and set a
NEW WORLD RECORD IN
THE EN B CATEGORY
an incredible 498.10 km
His achievement is all the more remarkable because in the spring, Hugo suffered a spinal injury after a bad landing and was subsequently hospitalized for two months before slowly starting to fly again.
BRAVO HUGO, THIS IS A PERFORMANCE FROM ANOTHER WORLD!!!
Just to let you know, the old record was 446.38 km and had stood for 9 years!
And what did Hugo himself write about this flight?
In the morning, we looked out the window and saw a lot of high clouds, not a good sign at all. But since we hadn’t flown for two days, we decided to give it a try anyway. At takeoff, I didn’t like what I saw: almost no wind, no cumulus clouds, and lots of cirrus. I tried to convince Lukáš and Standa to call it off, saying it wasn’t worth it, but they wanted to fly, so I joined them.
Standa took off first, and I followed right after. Unfortunately, he went to try a field north of the launch and ended up landing there. I went straight downwind and got a bit luckier; that’s when my record flight began. At first, it was tough: no clouds ahead, all of them forming behind me, and around the 20th kilometre, I got quite low. I saw some birds circling, so I followed them, which turned out to be a mistake. I gained a little altitude, but then sank again, down to 130 meters AGL. Luckily, I caught a thermal, climbed out, and soon after joined up with Lukáš.
From then on, we flew together. He could’ve easily flown faster since he had a Merlin, but he used only a third of his speedbar so we could stay side by side. Without him, this flight definitely wouldn’t have been so successful. We helped each other a lot and together managed to find strong thermals quickly.
The rest of the flight was pretty uneventful. Up to the plateau, we were dealing with cirrus clouds, and beyond it came the “blue death,” so we switched to survival mode: “take everything, just make a few more kilometres.” Just before 445 km, I managed to catch the last good thermal up to 2600 m, and we had an incredible final glide, about 40 km from 2300 m AGL. I tried to stretch the flight as far as possible, but there was nowhere to land, only endless forest. I picked the last possible landing spot, but as I got over it, I noticed a power line running right through the middle. I used my precision landing skills and managed to touch down on a 15×15 meter patch.
After landing, I walked to the nearest house, only goats around. While I was waiting to see if anyone would come out, I suddenly heard a gunshot, about 15 meters away. I backed off a bit, waited again, and then came a second shot. That was enough for me, I quickly walked away. Later in the village, I found out that the homeowner thought I was some kind of intruder and started shooting.
In conclusion, I’d like to thank Sky Paragliders for taking me to Brazil and giving me the chance to go for this record. Huge thanks to Lukáš for the great teamwork and an amazing flight, and to Carcará Adventure for their excellent support and services.
October 13, 2025 EN-B Record: 498 km
Thanks, Hugo, for not giving up, and thanks to Lukáš for his exemplary cooperation. Congratulations on your personal best, which you achieved with MERLIN – an amazing 496.92 km!

Standa Klikar, while testing his new CCC HARPY wing,
flew
a NEW CZECH RECORD
of an amazing 554.10 km
Congratulations, HARPY's potential has been fully demonstrated - great work above and below the canopy!!!
You can find Standa's comment on XContest:
"Czech record in free flight :)
An amazing flight, but I wasn't lucky with the lines, nice clouds on the sides and behind me, but a blue hole in front of me :D
On the other hand, I was very lucky with several low rescues, especially the one at 50 km with Carcara bird right next to me."
Great job, Standa, will you add another one? 😉
