Taking you on even bigger journeys of discovery, effortlessly devouring the Km’s:
APOLLO is just dripping in our latest SPORT-LINE technologies.
It includes many of our very latest innovative details and features that combine and add up to make real class leading and cutting edge differences that performance minded pilots desire.
Who’s it for?
APOLLO is for pilots who fly frequently and that have the skill level to match the high performance and dynamics of this wing whilst remaining within the EN B category. We seriously believe that true performance comes from the right match of pilot and wing. In the right hands, this wing will produce an incredible in flight experience and many km’s of rewarding cross-country distance whilst leading the pack. Importantly, APOLLO retains the fantastic handling that our Sky gliders are well known for, whilst using only technologies and design that add genuine advancements to the in-flight experience for the pilot. APOLLO ’s design still manages to offer the pilot an extremely good ratio of performance to safety. The handling and behavior of APOLLO, alone, will inspire confidence, emotion and inspiration for every flight, thus enhancing the pilots ability to access the performance that lies within. APOLLO remains a true and honest , high performing sports wing in the EN B category for high end EN B pilots.
The design features explored
If you are looking for a glider which is a victim to fashion, then you’ve come to the wrong place.
APOLLO is a result of tapping into all of our experience, technologies and know-how which our team has gathered over the past 30 years.
Every single component of APOLLOs intricate and unique design serves a crucial purpose. Many unique features lie within, each working in harmony to make the whole complete glider which fully enhances performance and, crucially, the pilot’s in flight experience.
APOLLOs low wing weight (4.6 kg M size) is just one more of the many design features that enhance handling and security. A quick look into the leading edge will reveal the intricate details of APOLLOs internal workings. A combination of computer design, laser cutting and skilled human hand; some would say, a work of art.
APOLLO sports an aspect ratio of 5.45 and consists of 55 cells over a drag reducing elliptical planform.
We have a reduced line consumption with a 3 riser configuration and reduced upper line diameters too. This is made possible, in part, by utilizing a relatively high aspect ratio design and a new concept to spread the loads. Loads are distributed internally, in part, by utilizing our V Bridge system. These light weight internal structures form a tensioning bridge at strategic points, which distribute load evenly. These ensure that the surface of each cell remains at a consistent tension with minimal ballooning and flattening of the cells surfaces across the entire span of the wing. The result is an overall cleaner, more aerodynamic wing surface.
Line diameters in the upper cascades are reduced to unsheathed 0.8 & 0.6 mm & 1.0 mm diameters for the mid cascades. Lower mainlines are sheathed Liros PPSL 1.40 mm & 1.42 mm. Line diameters and materials have been carefully selected and blended to optimize performance, practicality and durability.
Our LEO (Leading Edge Optimization) design ensures that the composite nose is highly structured and formed yet remains light. The unique blend of Hypalon, nylon rods and mylar support the nose with perfect tension. The set- back vent positioning enhances the internal pressure, whilst the Triple 3D cut; two upper surface cuts and one lower, ensure the cleanest of curves to the foil. The end result is a highly efficient profile with excellent internal pressure values throughout the speed range that remains simple to launch, highly durable and yet simple to pack.

APOLLO, so different, yet so familiar.
The young and dynamic additions to our developement team have been pivotal in driving the APOLLO project towards our end goal and have injected the Sport-line with passion and performance.
Our design philosophies run deep here at Sky and all of our team share these beliefs and philosophies that are ever present in all of our work.
Whilst APOLLOs design is certainly very different to our previous models, the philosophy behind the design firmly remains. It means that we use only technologies and design that add genuine advancements to the performance and in-flight experience for the pilot, to produce a stunning new glider concept in our Sport-line range that performs at the very top of its class.
Retaining the sublime handling that our Sky gliders have become well known for was also a very real part of the concept and one that we are happy to report remains.
So you can see, our benchmark philosophies are etched deep into the soul of APOLLO.
The creation of APOLLO was by no means an easy task, but after throwing all of our know-how and experience at this design from the last 30 years, blending it with the knowledge of our young, visionary team members, we are really very proud to release this exceptional wing as a new member of the Sky Paragliders line-up.

We seriously believe that true performance comes from the right match of pilot and wing. The same statement equally and firmly, applies also to safety.
And so, the Sport, Comfort & Light lines were born to perfectly address these statements and allow our design team to fulfill many different pilots’ needs, whilst offering the most suitable product for the individual pilot. Choosing the most suitable product becomes an easy, pleasurable and logical experience for any level of pilot.
You will find the same philosophy flowing throughout all our products, whether it be a glider, reserve, harness or the smallest of items such as a speed bar or brake handle.
Our young and dynamic additions to our traditional design team have injected the Sport-line with passion and performance, based upon a solid design platform which has evolved for over 25 years at Sky.
The APOLLO was born from these philosophies and strong beliefs, a true Sky thoroughbred which honestly defines our new Sport line glider series.
Whilst this glider is cutting edge and certainly not for inexperienced pilots, it offers the skillful pilot the ultimate performance and in-flight experience within its class whilst retaining the sublime handling that Sky pilots around the world adore.
Design Features
A glider that is sexy and functional.
New nose, new foil, new line distribution, higher aspect ratio. Welcome to the world of the Sport-line. We wanted to produce a wing that was truly technologically enhanced, stylish and class leading. It comes in the form of APOLLO.
Creating APOLLO with a drag reducing 3 line concept and at the same time creating a stable nose section at higher speeds meant that our story was just beginning.
Load distribution dictated that a slightly thicker profile was required compared to our previous models. We kept this foil clean with our Triple 3D cut, a double 3 D cut on the top surface and single on the lower.
The new V Bridge internal structure is required to deal with load distribution whilst reducing ballooning and flattening of the cells.
Our LEO (Leading Edge Optimization) was derived at after extensive testing.
A closer look reveals its unique structure and blend of materials which offer both aerodynamic and practical advantages.
The shape of the nose and the air intake position is optimized for excellent pressure values throughout the speed range whilst the nylon rods, Hypalon and Mylar help to maintain nose stability due to its extended distance beyond the A line attachments. Traditionally, leading edge nylon rods are a point for abrasion so we moved the rods slightly inboard from the top surface to fix this and kept the rigidity by using the composite structure.
Finally, cell supporting mini ribs in the trailing edge are the finishing touches to complete a very clean and thus efficient foil.
The blend of all these innovations work together in harmony to produce APOLLO stunning handling and performance.
